Your hiking trip starts in the hometown of the Postojna Cave. The spectacular limestone cave system can be visited by joining the regular daily tour or on a specially organized visit that follows the less visited part of the caves. Stage distance: 20 km (medium level)
Today you will visit the impenetrable fortress of Predjama Castle, which is located in the middle of a predominantly 123 meter-cliff. Here you will learn the stories about a brave knight, who kept an army at bay, using the secret passage of the Predjama cave system. From here, you will take a light walk towards the foothill of Nanos Mountain and end your day with delicious homemade food and rich local wine. Accommodation in a guest house in the countryside.

Trekking Slovenia's Karst: Štanjel & Predjama Castle (Slovenia)


Stage distance: 20 km (medium level)
After a short drive, you will start today’s stage in the village of Razdrto in the shadow of Mt. Nanos. You can hike to the top and enjoy a splendid view of southwestern Slovenia or follow the path along the hillside to the Vipava wine valley. As you continue to walk through the vineyard-filled hills, there are many interesting medieval castles that you can visit. Accommodation in a local rural house.


Stage distance: 17 km (medium level)
Today you will take a walk full of panoramic views while hiking the soil of the region known as Terra Rosa. It produces the ruby ​​red wines of Teran and Refošk; They are rarely exported, so trying one in the heart of the Karst is a peculiar delight. Trekking Slovenia: into the caves and through the vineyards of the karstic world



Stage distance: 20 km (medium level)
Today you will head south to a picturesque little town particularly famous for its perfect weather conditions. Kopriva is ideal for preparing and air-drying the famous karst ham (pršut). Passing though the nearby village of Kodrovi you will find an interesting row of unique Mediterranean-style houses with entrances to vaulted cellars. In the city convent there is a beautiful library, which contains books in thirty-seven different languages, some from the 17th century. Accommodation in a guest house.

Trekking Slovenia's Karst: Lipica & Štanjel


Stage distance: 20 km (medium level)
After breakfast, transfer to Lipica, where your last day of hiking begins. Lipica is famous for its Stud farm of beautiful thoroughbred horses whose. Your journey ends at an observation point just above the Habsburg port of Trieste. From Villa Opicina you can descend to Trieste on an old tram or city bus and enjoy a capuccio on a city’s Piaza Unita. Accommodation in Trieste.


After breakfast the tour ends. If there is still any energy in you after trekking Slovenia’s Karst region, you can jump on a bike in Trieste and start a bike tour all the way to Pula at the south of Istria in Croatia.

Our self-guided hiking tours are carefully planed routes along the most beautiful spots of Slovenia. Self-guided does not mean you are on your own. Before the start of the tour you will get all the necessary documentation which will guide you through this journey. Furthermore you can always contact out super friendly team via phone, email or messaging app if you get lost or need additional information about your Slovenia hiking tour.

  • You can start your tour any day except Thursdays, between 13.04. and 12.10.2020.

Prices for the self-guided tour:

  • 610,00 EUR per person in a double room
  • Single room supplement: 120,00 EUR

The price includes:

  • 6 nights accommodation with breakfast
  • Transfer by car on days 3 and 6.
  • Luggage transportation between hotels/guest houses (one piece per person, max. 20 kg / 45 lb). Each additional piece is paid an additional 10,00  EUR (to be paid on site).
  • Information package in English that includes a description of the route in text and images and the corresponding maps. One per reservation, each additional set is 20,00 EUR
  • GPS data
  • Local tourist taxes and other taxes

  • Parking in a covered hotel garage in Postojna: EUR 6.00 per day
