Follow the local legend about the magical ibex with golden horns who is believed to live in the mountains above Soča Valley. This amazing trail connect two of the most gorgeous valleys of Julian Alps – Bohinj and Soča and is a great representation of what hiking in Triglav National Park is all about.
Day 1: ARRIVAL TO BOHINJ
Arrival to the famous alpine valley of Bohinj located in the hear of the Triglav National Park. Bohinj is famous for its beautiful glacial lake, the largest in Slovenia. Enjoy your first evening in gorgeous natural environment before heading out the next day.
Day 2: BOHINJ/RIBČEV LAZ – SAVICA – KOMNA
Stage distance: approx. 14 km / 5 hours (moderate level), Ascent: 1280 m; Descent: 300 m
Your hiking in Triglav National Park starts on the north side of Lake Bohinj, beneteah the steep slopes of the high mountains. Before starting the climb, you can visit the gorgeous Savica Waterfall, just a short detour away. The waterfall is 70 m high and collects water from the valley of the Seven Triglav Lakes. Afterwards you continue zour daily hike to reach the Komna hut. Spend the evening with a view of the Bohinj Lake before calling it a night.
Day 3: KOMNA – LAKE KRN – LEPENA VALLEY
Distance: approx. 11 km / 5 hours (moderate level), Ascent: 300 m; Descent: 1200 m
Today’s hike will take you through the epicenter of gory Isonzo Front during the First World War. Pay attention to the numerous military remains. The stables you will pass on the way, used to serve as barracks. By mid-day you will reach the romantic Lake Krn where you can enjoy a meal. Later descent to the beautiful Lepena Valley, which is the destination for today.
Day 4: LEPENA VALLEY – BOVEC
Distance: approx. 14 km / 6 hours (moderate level), Ascent: 150 m; Descent: 380 m
It’s time for some of the most enjoyable hiking in Triglav national park. Your last trail starts at Šunikov gaj, a lovely natural water park, and continues along the gorgeous Soča River. Follow this alpine beauty through its gorges all the way to your final destination – Bovec, a popular activity center in Slovenia.
Day 5: BOVEC – END OF TRIP
After breakfast free time till your departure. End of trip.
