Bulgaria is the place where for years the most important historical civilizations crossed, beginning with Thracians 2000 years BC, and passing through the Romans, Slavs, Byzantines and Ottomans – to mention only the most famous ones. This turbulent history is the guarantee for the unforgettable cultural trip. Bulgaria has 7 UNESCO protected historical sites.
The capital of Bulgaria is Sofia, a quiet and small city. It is also historical and youthful at the same time. It is located near many of the most interesting points in the country, making it perfect for a getaway with daily visits all around. In the city, on the other hand, you will find a vast branch of cultural visits – from Roman remains to impressive Red Army buildings. Many times all this in the same place.
Continuing with story numbers, Bulgaria also has 7 mountain ranges with the highest peak at 2925 m high. But the Bulgarian mountains offer much more than hiking – there are easy hikes with breathtaking views (the best known is the 7 lakes), you can also go cycling and there are even many winter sports on the ski slopes.
And to finish your travel to Bulgaria, it is worth spending a few days on the Black Sea coast. Bulgaria has 378 km of coastline with about 130 km of pure beaches. It has a pleasant climate with an average of 28 ° C during the summer and 240 hours of sunshine in May and September and more than 300 hours in July and August. The coast is full of old towns, sandy beaches and also national parks.
