This is an active 8-day intermediate level itinerary. Holidays in the Alps in summer accessible to everyone, besides the Julian Alps you’ll have including all the best of Slovenia. A local expert guide will take you to visit the capital, Ljubljana, Bled with the Vintgar gorge and much more. For several days you will enjoy light walks through the Triglav National Park in the Julian Alps.
This trip through the Alps has guaranteed departures on various dates throughout the season (click on “Dates” on the left). It is a trip in small group, with a maximum of 16 people. If you don’t like traveling in groups, we are experts in tailor-made trips, so without any problem, this holidays in the Alps in summer or any other, can also be done in private and we can even modify it to your wishes.

Day 1 (Saturday): ARRIVAL TO LJUBLJANA
Arrival at Ljubljana airport and transfer to the hotel. Accommodation in Ljubljana.
Day 2 (Sunday): LJUBLJANA – SKOCJAN CAVES – BLED
After breakfast, meet the guide and visit the Slovenian capital, Ljubljana. During the walking tour with the local guide in English, you will go up to the Ljubljana Castle to enjoy the views over the city. By another path you will go down to the old town and stroll through the main square, the Congress Square, as well as visiting various bridges in the city, including: Triple Bridge, Butchers Bridge and Dragons Bridge.
After the visit, departure to the karst region to visit the Skocjan Caves that are part of UNESCO. During a visit of approx 2h you will see the largest underground canyon known in the world, several waterfalls and karst formations: “Organ” – a set of formations that emulate the shape of an organ and the “Cave of Whispers“.
After the visit of the Skocjan Caves (Skocjanske jame), transfer to the beautiful alpine city of Bled. Dinner and accommodation in Bled.
Day 3 (Monday): BLED – VINTGAR GORGE – BLED
Breakfast. With the guide you will make the first march. From the village of Bled you will go to the Vintgar Gorge, an impressive canyon near Bled. It was excavated by the Radovna River and has a beautiful walkway. In Slovenia’s first tourist gorge you will experience the most intact nature of Bled in all its splendor.
When you leave the gorge, you will walk back to Bled and continue with the visit of the town: you will go up to Bled Castle, to enjoy the best view of the lake, the town of Bled and the Gorenjska region. In the museum exhibition you will learn about the historical development of Bled, its culture and population.

Once down, you will enjoy a ride on the typical boat, called “pletna” that will take you to the island of Bled. After returning from the island, free time to enjoy Bled. We recommend experimenting with different types of cake, among them “potica“; a typical Slovenian cake, or “kremsnita“, the typical Bled cake. Dinner and accommodation in Bled.

Day 4 (Tuesday): BLED – ZAJAMNIKI – USKOVNICA – BOHINJ – BLED
After breakfast, transfer to the Pokljuka Plateau to make the march to “the most beautiful street of shepherd’s huts” in the Zajamniki pastures. It is one of the most photographed mountains in the Triglav National Park. Continuation to Uskovnica, where in the refuge you can eat typical dishes.
Descent from the Uskovnica mountain to the Mostnica Valley and Lake Bohinj, the largest natural lake in Slovenia. Lake Bohinj is located in a glacial valley and contains almost 100 million cubic meters of water. In summer, the water temperature rises to 22 ° C. The lake is perfect for year-round water activities, from swimming, boating, windsurfing, etc. That is why we recommend bringing a light towel and a change of clothes to take advantage of free time at the lake. In the late afternoon, transfer to Bled, dinner and accommodation in Bled.

Day 5 (Wednesday): BLED – MARTULJEK WATERFALLS – KRANJSKA GORA
After breakfast, departure to Kranjska Gora. At Gozd Martuljek you will stop to march to the Martuljek Waterfalls. Passing the first waterfall, you will come to a small refuge where you can rest a bit and cool off before continuing on to the second waterfall. The final part is a little more demanding, which for your safety it is equipped with ropes to facilitate access. Return to the valley and transfer to Kranjska Gora. Dinner and accommodation in Kranjska Gora.

Day 6 (Thursday): KRANJSKA GORA – TAMAR VALLEY – KRANJSKA GORA
Breakfast. In the morning, trek through the grasslands of Kranjska Gora and Podkoren to one of the most picturesque valleys, the Tamar Valley. From the hotel you will go to the Zelenci nature reserve (approx. 45 min from the hotel) and then through the meadows and forests to Planica (approx. 45 min), the Nordic ski center, with the largest trampolines for ski jumps. Once in Planica, the trail will take you to the highest mountains, but all the time on very flat terrain.
After a light walk (approx. 1 hour) you will arrive at Tamar, the valley within the Triglav National Park and surrounded by the Sleme, Mojstrovka, Jalovec and Ponce Mountains. At the end of the valley there is an alpine refuge where you can order food to recharge your batteries. Optionally, you can go up to the source Nadiza – approx. 1h walk – the main source of the waters in Zelenci. Back through the valley to Planica. From Planica, transfer back to Kranjska Gora. The rest of the day off in Kranjska Gora. Dinner and accommodation in Kranjska Gora.

Day 7 (Friday): KRANJSKA GORA – SURPRISE HIKE – LJUBLJANA
Breakfast at the hotel. Today you will go for a surprise march around the surroundings of Kranjska Gora. Depending on the weather, trail conditions and group wishes, our professional guide will decide on the go where he will lead the group. When making the decision, he will take into account the physical condition of all the members of the group, so that everyone can enjoy the surprise and one of the most beautiful marches in the Triglav National Park. In the afternoon, transfer to Ljubljana and accommodation in Ljubljana.
Day 8 (Saturday): LJUBLJANA – END OF HOLIDAYS IN THE ALPS IN SUMMER
Breakfast. Transfer to Ljubljana airport. End of holidays in the Alps in summer.
