Day 1: AIRPORT – SKOPJE
Arrival at Skopje airport to start your journey to North Macedonia. Transfer to the hotel. Accommodation in Skopje.
Day 2: SKOPJE – MATKA CANYON – SKOPJE
After breakfast it’s time for a guided tour of Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia. Start the tour in Macedonia Square, famous for the gigantic sculptures of national heroes, including the most controversial one – Alexander the Great. Continue with a visit to the retro-futuristic memorial house of Mother Teresa who was born in Skopje in 1910. Moving on to the other side of Vardar River and exploring the tiny streets of Čaršija – the old Ottoman neighbourhood before ending the tour with the visit of Kale Fortress above the city. In the afternoon transfer to the pretty Matka Canyon, just 15 kilometers from the center. Enjoy the boat ride along this natural canyon of the Treska River, characterized by its special shape and diversity of relief. Return to Skopje for the night.
Day 3: SKOPJE – PRIŠTINA – PRIZREN – SKOPJE
Breakfast. It’s time to visit Kosovo. Start with a trip to Priština, the youngest capital in Europe. To take in the truly unique atmosphere of this city, we recommend a stroll along the main boulevard of Nënë Tereza and Ibrahim Rugova Square. Among the interesting attractions of Priština are the Sultan Mehmet Mosque and the “ugliest building in the world” – the Kosovo National Library. In the afternoon you will relocate to the picturesque town of Prizren, full of mosques and old churches. Above the historic center is the fortress of Prizren, which offers beautiful views of the town and the Shar Mountains – a natural border between Kosovo and Macedonia. Return to Skopje.
Day 4: SKOPJE – TETOVO – MAVROVO NATIONAL PARK – OHRID
Breakfast and then departure to Tetovo, where we will visit the iconic Painted Mosque, considered a masterpiece of Ottoman art. The building is fully decorated, both outside and inside with floral and geometric motifs. Later our best of Macedonia trip will continue in Mavrovo National Park, where you’ll be able to peek into the most important monastery in the country – the Byzantine Monastery of John Bigorski. In the afternoon, arrival in Ohrid – the picturesque lakeside town of the same name which is one of the oldest and deepest in Europe. Accommodation in Ohrid.

Day 5: OHRID – ST. NAUM – OHRID
After breakfast, guided tour of Ohrid, the most beautiful city in North Macedonia. Its historic center, known for white ottoman architecture and the prestige of its artistic treasures, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Among the most important churches are the Cathedral of Saint Sophia, the Byzantine-style Church of Saint Mary Perivlepta and the symbol of Ohrid – the picturesque Church of Saint John in Kaneo. In the afternoon, transfer to the Sant Naum Monastery on the south side of Lake Ohrid, just before the border with Albania. Located on the rock above Lake Ohrid, this beautiful building is surrounded by green gardens filled with peacocks and crystal-clear waters of the San Naum springs. Return to Ohrid and accommodation.
Day 6: OHRID – HERACLEA – BITOLA – TIKVES AREA – SKOPJE
Breakfast. Departure towards Bitola, to visit the ancient city of Heraclea Lyncestis, founded in the 4th century BC by Philip II of Macedon, father of Alexander the Great. Take a walk among the ruins of ancient thermal baths and amphitheater and get impressed by wonderful and colorful mosaics from the 5th century. Next on our itinerary is a brief visit of Bitola – conquered by the Ottoman Empire in 1382. Among the numerous mosques erected by the Turks during their occupation, there are 12 still standing to this day. Afterwards, departure to the Tikves area, the wine region, where you can taste the most famous Macedonian wine. If you are interested in even more ancient ruins, you can make a stop at Stobi. This historically very important place reached its peak as the capital of the Roman province of Macedonia Salutaris. In the afternoon, arrival to Skopje. Night in Skopje.
Day 7: SKOPJE – END OF TRIP
Breakfast and free time until transfer to the airport for your return flight. End of trip.
