Slovenia bike tour is planned as a self-guided trip – which means that you don’t have a driver or a guide but we do reserve and organize everything you need. Accommodation, transport of luggage between hotels and last, but not least, we give you the information package with all the instructions and our assistance before, during and after your trip.
Day 1: ARRIVAL TO BLED
Arrival to Bled and the beginning of Slovenia Bike Tour that will allow you to experience the best Slovenia has to offer. If you get to this alpine village early enough, we recommend taking a stroll around Lake Bled or head up to Bled Castle sitting on the rock above to enjoy the beautiful views over the high mountain peaks and the island of Bled below. If you have a whole day, you should take a ride in the typical boat, called pletna. To get your sugar level up before the start of the bike tour, try one of the typical sweets, potica or kremšnita. In the afternoon one of representatives will deliver you all the necessary documentation for the tour. Accommodation in Bled.
Day 2: BLED – BOHINJ VALLEY
Stage distance: approx. 27 km + 16,5 km optional tour to the Savica waterfall
Breakfast. We will take you to Pokljuka plateau to facilitate your start. Before you start biking, take in the breathtaking views over the surroundings and breathe in the fresh air of the Pokljuka forests. From the plateau you will descend to the Bohinj Valley, the jewel of Triglav National Park. The route will take you through numerous alpine villages scattered throughout the valley until you reach the small settlement of Ribcev Laz on the shores of Bohinj Lake.
If you still have enough energy, take a detour to the other side lake to visit the Savica Waterfall or take the cable car up to Mount Vogel and enjoy a spectacular view of the Bohinj Valley and Mount Triglav, the highest peak in the Julian Alps and Slovenia. On your way back stop at one of the bars to sample the local homemade honey liqueur. Accommodation in the Bohinj Valley.
Day 3: BOHINJ VALLEY – ŠKOFJA LOKA
Stage distance: 49 km
Make sure to get a big breakfast, since you are about to start the longest leg of the tour. Leaving the Bohinj Valley behind, you will pass through the town of Bohinjska Bistrica and from there climb up to the Jelovica plateau – since the ascent is approx. 750 meters we can also arrange a ride for this part of the route (supplement of 20 EUR per person). From the top of Jelovica plateau the route will take you through deep forests and will descend towards Selska Valley continuing to Škofja Loka Hills. Passing by several villages like Sorica and Železniki your will end your day in Škofja Loka, one of the oldest towns in Slovenia. If there is still any strength in you, climb up to Škofja Loka Castle sitting on the hill overlooking the town or simply wander the medieval streets of the old town. Accommodation in Škofja Loka.
Day 4: ŠKOFJA LOKA – LJUBLJANA
Stage distance: approx. 31 km
After breakfast it’s time for a morning bike ride to Ljubljana. the capital of Slovenia. In the afternoon visit the historic city center, characterized by its typical 19th century architecture. From there you can walk or bike to Ljubljana Castle which is perched on top of a hill overlooking the town and the Ljubljanica River which flows through. In the evening, relax with a beer in one of the terrace bars / cafes next along the banks of the river. Night in Ljubljana.

Day 5: LJUBLJANA – VRHNIKA
Stage distance: 39 km + 18 km optional to go to the Iški Vintgar Valley
The day will start with a bike ride crossing 160 km2 of plain that stretches south of the capital known as Ljubliansko Barje – a swamp of diverse fauna and vegetation. Along the way you can visit the Iški Vintgar nature reserve and remains of one of the highest railway viaducts in the world located in Borovnica. If you travel during the summer months, you can make a stop to cool off at Lake Podpeč. Just before reaching Vrhnika, you can visit the Technical Museum of Slovenia, inside Bistra Castle – among other interesting exhibits will find an extensive collection of cars belonging to Josip Broz Tito. Day 6: VRHNIKA – POSTOJNA
Stage distance: approx. 32 km + 12 km optional to the Rakov Skocjan nature reserve
This day will be a little more challenging as you will cycle on side-roads of the Karst region and experience the Slovenian countryside. Along the way we recommend you to pass through the beautiful Rakov Škocjan nature reserve and admire natural limestone bridges carved by the Rak River. Accommodation in Postojna.
Day 7: POSTOJNA – ŠTANJEL
Stage distance: approx. 42 km + 6 km optional to Predjama Castle
After breakfast, visit the famous Postojna Cave. More than 30 million tourists have visited this impressive cave system cutting deep into the limestone mountains. You will enter a fairy-tale place of colourful stalactites and stalagmites and unique animals called “the human fish” (olm or proteus). After a visit of the cave, we recommend a detour to the earby Predjama Castle, a medieval castle embedded in a 123-meter-high rock. Accommodation in Štanjel.
Day 8: ŠTANJEL – LIPICA – DIVAČA
Stage distance: approx. 48 km
Breakfast. After the short visit of Sežana botanical garden, you will arrive at the Lipica Stud Farm, where you can visit white-haired and kind-hearted horses that have gained worldwide fame for their intelligence. The history of the Lipica horses is linked to the Viennese riding school and the best way to learn all about it, is to watch the spectacular show. If you have more time at your disposal, you can alosvisit the War Museum in the tower of the village of Lokev. Accommodation in Divača.
Day 9: DIVAČA – MUGGIA
Stage distance: 38 km
Breakfast. If you missed the Postojna cave, you can visit the pretty Škocjan caves – just as interesting but less busy, these caves have the honour of being listed by UNESCO. You can take a detour to the Italian city of Trieste and visit the castle of Miramamre. Relax while sipping a cappuccino in one of the city’s cafes. The day ends in Muggia, south of Trieste. After days on the bike, it’s time to enjoy an ice cream in the city center or relax on the beach. Accommodation in Muggia.
Day 10: MUGGIA – PIRAN
Stage distance: 37 km + 11 km optional to the salt plants in Seča
Breakfast. Follow the old railway line from Trieste towards the Slovenian coast and enjoy the splendid views of the bay of Trieste. A stop for a coffee in the city of Portoroz, known for its mud beauty treatments. The day ends in the beautiful Venetian town of Piran. The bikes are to be returned until 18.00. Accommodation in Piran.
Day 11: DEPARTURE FROM PIRAN
