Day 1: VENICE AIRPORT – LJUBLJANA
Arrival at Venice airport and transfer to Ljubljana where the itinerary for Slovenia officially starts. If time allows optional transfer to Venice and free time. Venice is known as one of the most romantic cities in the world. The city dazzles both its own citizens and those who visit, with the beauty of its canals and its architecture. We recommend a tour of the center, a visit to Saint Mark’s Square, with its Byzantine-Roman Basilica, the Bridge of Sighs, the Ducal Palace and the Grand Canal. Dinner and accommodation in Ljubljana.
Day 2: LJUBLJANA
After breakfast, a guided tour of Ljubljana. Meeting with the guide at the hotel reception. On a walk through the old town, you will pass the congress buildings, the National Library, the Cathedral, the main square “Prešernov trg“, the Triple Bridge and the Dragon Bridge, the symbol of the city. After the guided tour, you will go up to the Ljubljana Castle, either on foot or by funicular, from where you can enjoy the views over Ljubljana and the mountains that are seen in the distance. In the afternoon, free time to take a stroll through the old town, which is closed to traffic. There, we advise you to experience the flavors of Ljubljana in any of the many restaurants on the banks of the Liublianica River or to enjoy the street performers, that can be found on many corners. Dinner and accommodation in Ljubljana.
Day 3: LJUBLJANA – MARIBOR – PTUJ – LJUBLJANA
Breakfast and departure to the east of Slovenia. A visit of Maribor, the second largest city in Slovenia, famous for its white wines and for the Austro-Hungarian tradition. The city was the European Capital of Culture in 2012. You will visit the old town on the banks of the Drava River, just below Pohorje. You will pass in front of the Franciscan Church and the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist and also visiting the most famous place in the city the – Old Vine House – where the oldest vine in the world is located, which is already over 400 years old. Optionally, you can enjoy a wine tasting in one of the local wineries. Your itinerary of Slovenia continues with a transfer to Ptuj, known as a museum city for being the oldest Slovenian city. Its mythical 9th century castle reflected in the Drava River below. In the afternoon, return to Ljubljana. Dinner and accommodation in Ljubljana.
Day 4: LJUBLJANA – KAMNIK – VELIKA PLANINA – LJUBLJANA
Breakfast. Meeting with the guide and transfer to Kamnik and Velika Planina to spend an active day. You will go up to Velika Planina for a light walk through the Velika Planina plateau, passing the shepherds’ village – a picturesque village of wooden houses. Some of the shepherds offer fresh produce, such as sour milk or cheese. After a march of approximately 3h, return to Kamnik for a stroll through the old part of town, of one of the most important medieval towns in Slovenia. The day is quite active, so we recommend wearing sports clothes and shoes. Back to Ljubljana in the afternoon. Dinner and accommodation in Ljubljana.

Day 5: LJUBLJANA – BLED – BOHINJ – LJUBLJANA
Breakfast. Meeting with the guide and departure to Bled to continue the itinerary for Slovenia. You will visit the Bled Castle whose courtyard offers breathtaking panoramic views over the peaks of the Julian Alps and over Lake Bled with the island in the middle. From the castle you will go down to the lake and take a ride on a traditional boat of this region called “Pletna”, to the island, where the Baroque church of St. Mary is located, where you will have the cance to ring the bell of wishes. In the afternoon, continue to Bohinj with the largest natural lake in Slovenia, located in the heart of Triglav National Park. The lake will impress you with the reflections of the high tops of the Julian Alps. Some possible free time to have a swim in one of the lakes, so we recommend bringing a beach towel and swimming trunks or a chance of going up to the Savica waterfall. On the way back to Ljubljana, we can also take advantage and visit the Vintgar Gorge (1.5 hour walk). Return to Ljubljana. Dinner and accommodation.
Day 6: LJUBLJANA – POSTOJNA – PREDJAMA – LJUBLJANA
Breakfast. Transfer to Postojna to visit the Postojna Caves, one of the biggest attractions in Slovenia and the underground world. The Postojna Caves are famous for being the largest caves in the world that allow tourist visits. The visit is done on foot and by an electric train. Afterwards, you will visit the spectacular Predjama Castle, about 9 kilometers from Postojna. It is a medieval castle, embedded in a rock and connected with grottos to the neighboring mountains of the place. After the visits, departure to Ljubljana. Dinner and accommodation in Ljubljana.
Day 7: LJUBLJANA – LIPICA – PIRAN – LJUBLJANA
Breakfast and departure towards the Lipica Equestrian School, in the Karst region, where the famous Lipizzana white horses are bred. Originally from this region, they are a mix between the karst dappled horse with Arab and Spanish horses. These animals are extremely beautiful and intelligent. Lípica’s stable is the oldest in Europe. Later we will head towards Piran, a fairytale town with a deep blue backdrop. The place has a strong Venetian inspiration in its architecture, which reveals its historical past. You will have also some free time to stroll through its squares, visit one of its churches and sit on one of the terraces overlooking the sea. Return to Ljubljana. Dinner and accommodation.
Day 8: LJUBLJANA – END OF TRIP
Breakfast. Transfer to the Venice airport. End of itinerary for Slovenia.
