Day 1: ARRIVAL TO LJUBLJANA
Your best of Slovenia trip starts with arrival at Ljubljana airport and transfer to the hotel. Alternately, you can also fly to Zagreb, Venice or Trieste if the connections with your hometown are better. Accommodation in Ljubljana.
Day 2: LJUBLJANA
After breakfast your private guide will take you on a tour of Ljubljana. You will take a walk along the banks of the lovely Ljubljanica River and cross its numerus bridges, including the Triple Bridge by Ljubljana’s most famous architect Jože Plečnik and the elegant Dragon Bridge, which has become a symbol of the city. Among the many notable buildings, you will pass on your stroll through the historic center of Ljubljana, are the city’s University on the vivid Congress Square, Nacional Library (built exclusively from the local materials), the baroque Cathedral of St. Nicholas and the pinkish Franciscan Church of the Annunciation located on Ljubljana’s central square named after the nation’s greatest poet, France Prešeren. To summit all up, you can climb up the city’s most strategic point – the Ljubljana Castle sitting on a hill above the old historic center – and enjoy the wonderful views of Ljubljana and high Alps in the background.
Free afternoon to explore Ljubljana by yourself, have a coffee in one of the many bars along the river, enjoy the numerous street performances and try delicious local dishes. Accommodation in Ljubljana.
Day 3: LJUBLJANA – VELIKA PLANINA – KAMNIK – LJUBLJANA
Breakfast. Meeting with the guide and transfer to Velika planina plateau. Depending on your preferences and physical fitness you can choose to take a cable car or hike up to the picturesque shepherds’ village full of pretty wooden houses. Some of the them offer fresh products, such as sour milk or local cheese called trnič. In the afternoon we will descent to Kamnik for a stroll through the old historic center of one of the most important medieval towns in Slovenia. Return to Ljubljana. Accommodation in Ljubljana.

Day 4: LJUBLJANA – BLED – BOHINJ – LJUBLJANA
After breakfast your Best of Slovenia Tour continues with a transfer to the pretty alpine village of Bled. There you will visit the fairy-tale Bled Castle which offers breathtaking views over Lake Bled with the island in the middle and the peaks of the Julian Alps in the background. Later you can take the traditional boat called “pletna” to the island and ring the bells of the baroque Saint Mary’s church. In the afternoon, continue to Bohinj with the largest lake in Slovenia, located in the heart of Triglav National Park. Enter the picturesque church on the banks of Lake Bohinj or visit the impressive Savica Waterfall on the other side. If the weather conditions allow, you are welcome to take a swim in the lake or rent a canoe. Return to Ljubljana for the night.
Day 5: LJUBLJANA – KOPER – PIRAN – LJUBLJANA
Breakfast and departure to the Adriatic coast. First, we will visit Koper, the most important city on the Slovenian coast. Despite its large port, Koper somehow managed to preserve its historic charm which can be admired while wandering its narrow streets. Most of them lead to the pretty central square named after Yugoslav leader Tito where you can admire numerous elegant buildings, including the wonderful Praetorian Palace from the 15th century. Later we continue to Piran, the wonderful Venetian town stretching on a long peninsula. Take a stroll around the oval Tartini square ringed with pastel houses and then climb up the hilltop cathedral of St. George to admire the amazing views below. On the way back to Ljubljana optional stop in Hrastovlje, a tiny village famous for its church of Saint Trinity with spectacular frescos from the 15th century. Night in Ljubljana.
Day 6: LJUBLJANA – KRANJSKA GORA – VRŠIČ – SOČA VALLEY – LJUBLJANA
After breakfast transfer to Kranjska Gora, one of the best-known sports centers in Slovenia surrounded by magnificent alpine peaks which offer numerus hiking and cycling opportunities of all levels. Later the tour continues along the panoramic road over the breathtaking Vršič Pass into the beautiful Soča Valley. On the way you can visit the picturesque Russian chapel dedicated to the Russian soldiers who built this curved road during WWI and died in an avalanche. Driving along the emerald green Soča River, one of the most praised rivers in this part of Europe, will get us to Bovec, another adventure sports center. Here we can organize outdoor activates such are rafting or zipline.
Later continue along Soča River to the historic town of Kobarid, notable for playing an important role during the so-called Isonzo Front in WWI. If you are interest in history you can enter the renowned museum dedicated to this topic or visit the gorgeous Kozjak waterfall. Return to Ljubljana.

Day 7: LJUBLJANA – POSTOJNA – PREDJAMA – LJUBLJANA
Breakfast. Transfer to the famous Postojna Cave, one of the biggest attractions in Slovenia. It is the largest cave in Europe open to public, therefore the first part of the visit is done by electric train which takes you to the most spectacular halls full of jaw-dropping stalactites and stalagmites. The Postojna cave is also home to the one of the most unique creatures on the planet, the human fish – a blind subterranean salamander which has a color of human skin. In the past, people believed they were baby dragons. Later transfer to the nearby Predjama Castle, the famous a Renaissance castle built under a natural rocky arch high in the stone wall. Due to its position, the access was almost impossible, but its inhabitants had a secret passage through the cave behind the castle. In the afternoon return to the capital and accommodation in Ljubljana.
Day 8: LJUBLJANA – END OF TRIP
