Then you can go towards the north-east side of the coutry to wisit Ptuj, the oldest town in Slovenia where you can see the temple of dedicated to Mitra and one of only two statues of tauroctony in the world. Ona is in Paris in the Louvre museum and the second is here in Slovenia. To experience roman history in Slovenia we suggest you take at least 5 days.

If you are more into medieval history there is plenty to see from the castle on a clif abowe the lake of Bled, the castle of Predjama built at the entrance of a cave to the mayestic castle of Celje. Then there are the oldest towns in Slovenia Ptuj, Škofja Loka and Piran telling the story of different empires and fevdal lords. Each of them has a particular story and architecture but Piran is the outstanding one since it belonged to the Venetians for 500 years. So to tell how many days do you need in Slovenia is a hard decision. But for sure one week would give you the time necessary to explore the historical towns among which we shoul newer skip the capital Ljubljana with a clear medieval structure of the old town between the castle hill and the river.
