Day 1: AIRPORT – LJUBLJANA
Arrival at Ljubljana airport and private transfer to the hotel. Accommodation in Ljubljana.
Day 2: LIUBLIANA
After breakfast, guided tour of Ljubljana with a private local guide. On a walk through the old town you will pass by the congress building, the national library, the cathedral, the main square “Prešernov trg“, the Triple Bridge and the Dragon Bridge, the symbol of the city. Then take the funicular railway up the Ljubljana Castle by and from there they will enjoy the views over the city and the mountains that are seen in the distance. You can have lunch in an excellent restaurant in the castle. In the afternoon, tasting of superb Slovenian wine in the restaurant in the historic center. Afterwards you can optionally enjoy a private boat trip on the river Liublianica and admire the city from another point of view. Accommodation in Ljubljana.
Day 3: LIUBLIANA – BLED – BOHINJ
Breakfast and transfer to Bled. To start the day, they will take a traditional “pletna” boat trip to the island in the middle of the lake, where the Baroque church of Santa María is located. There you can ring the bell of wishes. We recommend having lunch at Bled Castle whose courtyard offers stunning panoramic views over the peaks of the Julian Alps and over Lake Bled. You should finish the delicious lunch with the traditional Bled cake. In the afternoon, we will continue to Bohinj Valley in the heart of the Triglav National Park with the largest natural lake of Slovenia. The lake will impress you with the reflections of the high peaks of the Julian Alps. The area is known for the traditional cheese that will be tasted. Accommodation in the area of Bled / Bohinj (glamping or hotel of the higher category).
Day 4: BLED / BOHINJ – KRANJSKA GORA – VRŠIČ – SOČA RIVER VALLEY
After breakfast transfer to Kranjska Gora where you will take a walk through one of the best known sports centers in Slovenia. The path will take you along the panoramic road towards the Vršič pass. On the way you can visit the Russian chapel – monument to the Russian soldiers who built this curved road during World War I and died in an avalanche. From the Vršič pass, we will decent to Trenta and Bovec – an adventure sports center. Later continue your way to Kobarid, and get to know one of the front-lines of WWI. Numerous men from different nations were fighting, suffering and dying in this area. Several relics have been preserved, such as trenches, fortifications, caves, monuments, military cemeteries, have been preserved. In Kobarid we will visit the Museum of the First World War. We recommend lunch at the restaurant Hiša Franko, whose cook has been proclaimed the best female chef in the world in 2017 (reservation of the table depends on the availability). Day 5: SOČA RIVER VALLEY
Free day in the valley of the Soča river. Possibility of enjoying nature or adrenaline sports (rafting, kayaking, zip lines, parachutes, …). Alternatively you can also rest and enjoy yourself in a spa with magical vistas of the Alps. Luxury accommodation in the valley of the Soča river.
Day 6: SOČA RIVER VALLEY – KARST REGION – SLOVENIAN COAST
After breakfast you will move to the Karst region. Their lands are famous of red soil and vineyards and high class wines. Lunch and tasting of local wine in one of the wineries in the region. Another constant of the territory are its numerous caves. The word karst that we use today to describe this type of land, has its origin in this region. Among the most picturesque villages we recommend to visit is Štanjel with old stone houses. If you are a horse lover you can visit the famous Lipica stables, where the world famous Lipizzanos horses are bred for several centuries. We can arrange riding of these white horses or a ride in a carriage. Optionally you can visit the Škocjan Caves, listed in the UNESCO list. Night on the Slovenian coast, in one of the 5-star hotels.
Day 7: SLOVENIAN COAST – POSTOJNA CAVE – PREDJAMA CASTLE – SLOVENIAN COAST / LJUBLJANA
Breakfast. You will start the day with a visit to the city of Piran, the best-preserved urban cultural monument in Slovenian Istria. In the afternoon, transfer to Postojna to visit the famous Postojna Cave, one of the biggest attractions in Slovenia and the underground world. The Postojna Cave is famous for being the largest cave in Europe that allows sightseeing. Later we will check out the Predjama Castle, a medieval castle, located under a rock and connected to the cave system in the background. In the afternoon, return to the coast or continue towards Ljubljana. Night on the Slovenian coast or in Ljubljana.
Day 8: SLOVENIAN COAST / LJUBLJANA – END OF TRIP
Breakfast. Private transfer to the airport. End of trip
